Ritchie has that rare mix of old Edmonton character and new energy that makes people want to stay. Between the vintage bungalows, the buzz around Ritchie Market, and easy access to Whyte Avenue, it’s no wonder this neighbourhood keeps drawing in families, young professionals, and longtime locals alike. When you’re ready to move into or out of this community, working with a trusted local moving company means your belongings get handled by people who actually know these streets and care about doing right by their neighbours.
The housing stock here tells a story. Wartime homes sit next to sleek new infills, and narrow lots mean tight spaces that can trip up crews who haven’t worked the area before. YEG Movers has spent years helping Ritchie residents relocate, and we’ve figured out how to move heavy furniture through those older doorframes without scratching the woodwork or scuffing the floors. We bring padding, floor runners, and the right tools for every job.
Our process starts with a conversation. We ask the right questions so we can give you an accurate quote with no surprises. You’ll get a detailed work order before moving day that breaks down every cost, the size of the crew, truck requirements, and insurance coverage. Two days out, our operations manager checks in to confirm timing and see if anything’s shifted. If you need last-minute help packing, we’re ready.
Sometimes a move is straightforward. Other times, possession dates don’t line up and you need somewhere to keep your stuff. We offer heated indoor storage at our Edmonton facility so your belongings stay safe until you’re ready. Need boxes, tape, or packing materials? Our shop on 93 Avenue has everything you need, and our team can handle the packing if you’d rather not deal with it yourself.
We’ve helped people move into condos near 99 Street, families settle into homes backing onto Mill Creek Ravine, and small businesses relocate along Whyte Avenue. Whether you’re downsizing from a place you’ve had for decades or moving into your first home near the market, we adjust our approach to fit your situation. Our headquarters keeps us close to this part of the city, and we take pride in treating every move like it matters.
Ritchie is a southeast Edmonton neighbourhood named after Robert Ritchie, former mayor of Strathcona and original owner of the historic Ritchie Mill. Bounded by Whyte Avenue to the north, 72 Avenue to the south, Mill Creek Ravine to the east, and the CPR railway tracks to the west, the area blends wartime character homes with modern infills.
ย
Ritchie Market on 96 Street has become a local gathering spot, home to Blind Enthusiasm Brewing, Transcend Coffee, and Biera restaurant. Residents enjoy easy access to Old Strathcona, ravine trails, and a walkable lifestyle that keeps the neighbourhood feeling alive.

Look no further! YEG Edmonton Movers offers top-notch long distance moving services tailored to meet your needs. Here’s a list of the most commmon locations for services to and from the Saskatchewan region:
Think of it as a grand adventure! Pack like you’re preparing for a treasure huntโeverything in one place, labeled with the enthusiasm of a pirate’s map. And remember, the more organized you are, the less time you’ll spend searching for that one crucial item that always seems to go missing.
Treat them like VIPs! Arrange a cozy ‘pet suite’ for them, complete with their favorite toys and snacks. Maybe even consider a ‘pet concierge’โaka, a friend whoโll make sure your furry friend gets their daily dose of cuddles and treats.
Turn packing into a game show! Challenge yourself to see how quickly you can pack a box or make it a competition with family members. The winner gets bragging rights and maybe even a homemade trophyโcrafted from packing peanuts, of course.
Get creative with your labels! Instead of just โkitchen,โ try โWhere the Magic Happensโ or โHome of the Tasty Delights.โ Itโll make unpacking a lot more fun and give your movers a chuckle or two.
Wrap them in bubble wrap and call it their โsecurity blanket.โ Just imagine theyโre on a royal journey, and youโre their trusty guardian ensuring they arrive in style, complete with an occasional pop for good luck.
Unpacking can be a race! Set a timer and see how much you can get done before it goes off. For extra fun, make it a family relay race where each person tackles a different room, and then celebrate with a dance party once youโre done.
Imagine youโre in an epic heist movieโstrategize your moves, recruit a team of strong allies (friends or movers), and make use of all the gadgets (dollies and straps) in your โtoolkitโ to maneuver your treasure safely through the labyrinth of doorways and hallways.
Unpack the essentials firstโyour favorite blanket, the coffee maker, and anything that makes you feel cozy. Itโs like setting up a mini-vacation in your new home before you dive into the daily grind.
Channel your inner action hero and tackle it with confidence. Whether itโs a broken item or a minor hiccup, handle it with flair and remember, every great adventure has a few plot twists. Just laugh it off and keep moving forward.
Think of it like planning a partyโbudget for the essentials and sprinkle in some fun extras if you can. Create a โMoving Budget Bingoโ where you mark off items as you handle them, and reward yourself with a small treat once you hit a bingo!
We suggest emptying out the contents of drawers into moving boxes to reduce the stress on the piece of furniture which is being moved. It is also harder to move a dresser full of clothes than empty; therefore it may increase the amount of time it takes to move the piece.
No, unfortunately for legal & liability reasons we do not allow customers to ride in the moving truck. We arrange a taxi or chauffeur for you, at an added cost.
For local moves payment is due at the completion of the move, or in some cases before the unload if the move is to go past business hours, or if the customer does not have a credit card on file. For long distance moves, payment is always due prior to the unload.
We accept Visa, Mastercard, Amex, American Express, Email Money Transfer, Bank Draft, Money Order. There is a processing charge of 4% on credit cards.
We absolutely do! All our trucks are wrapped in our company branding. During the busy season we do sometimes have to rent trucks although the rentals are still equipped with all the necessary moving equipment.
