The Mckernan neighborhood experiences distinct moving patterns tied to the academic calendar, and we’ve structured our services to accommodate these seasonal variations. During peak university transition periods, we increase our available crews and extend hours to ensure Mckernan residents receive prompt attention despite heightened demand. Our winter moving protocols address the specific challenges of Mckernan’s mature streets, which can become difficult to navigate during Edmonton’s snow season. We maintain specialized equipment to protect Mckernan’s characteristic landscaping during growing seasons when gardens and trees require additional consideration. This seasonal adaptability demonstrates our commitment to serving Mckernan residents with strategies tailored to not just where they live but also when they’re moving. Our Moving Coordinators, Jennifer, Leanne, and Tyler, work closely with clients to schedule optimal moving times that consider neighborhood-specific factors that other companies might overlook.
Mckernan residents often require more than basic transportation of belongings, which is why we’ve expanded our services to create truly comprehensive moving solutions. Our packing specialists provide partial or complete packing services using premium materials from our dedicated packing store in Edmonton. For Mckernan clients navigating housing transitions, we offer convenient heated storage options and portable storage units that can remain on-site during renovations or between property closings. Our junk removal services help residents prepare to downsize or declutter, while our specialty moving capabilities ensure the safe transport of musical instruments, artwork, and antiques common in Mckernan’s established homes. Owner and CEO Tony has prioritized making YEG Movers a complete resource for Mckernan residents facing any relocation challenge, creating customized service packages that address the unique requirements of each household or business.
The Mckernan neighborhood houses a diverse mix of long-term residents, university faculty, healthcare professionals, and students—each with distinct moving needs and expectations. For established families, we offer comprehensive household relocations with particular attention to children’s belongings and family heirlooms. University-affiliated residents appreciate our familiarity with academic schedules and our ability to coordinate moves during competitive end-of-term periods. Healthcare professionals moving to Mckernan value our flexible scheduling options that accommodate demanding work hours. For student housing transitions, we provide scaled services that offer professional moving assistance at appropriate price points. This community-specific approach demonstrates our understanding that Mckernan isn’t just a location but a diverse collection of residents with varying needs who deserve personalized moving solutions.
The Mckernan neighborhood represents one of Edmonton’s most balanced communities, offering historical charm alongside modern convenience and exceptional connectivity. Located south of the University of Alberta, Mckernan combines century-old character homes with thoughtful infill development, creating an architecturally diverse streetscape. The neighborhood benefits from outstanding transit access via the Mckernan/Belgravia LRT station, connecting residents to downtown, the university, and beyond. Community-minded residents maintain active involvement in local development decisions, preserving Mckernan’s unique character while embracing appropriate evolution. The area features exceptional walkability, with parks, schools, and essential services within comfortable distances. Mckernan’s proximity to both the university and major medical facilities makes it particularly attractive to academics and healthcare professionals seeking established neighborhoods with character. This blend of historical significance, excellent location, and community engagement gives Mckernan its distinctive atmosphere that residents cherish and protect.

Look no further! YEG Edmonton Movers offers top-notch long distance moving services tailored to meet your needs. Here’s a list of the most commmon locations for services to and from the Saskatchewan region:
Think of it as a grand adventure! Pack like you’re preparing for a treasure hunt—everything in one place, labeled with the enthusiasm of a pirate’s map. And remember, the more organized you are, the less time you’ll spend searching for that one crucial item that always seems to go missing.
Treat them like VIPs! Arrange a cozy ‘pet suite’ for them, complete with their favorite toys and snacks. Maybe even consider a ‘pet concierge’—aka, a friend who’ll make sure your furry friend gets their daily dose of cuddles and treats.
Turn packing into a game show! Challenge yourself to see how quickly you can pack a box or make it a competition with family members. The winner gets bragging rights and maybe even a homemade trophy—crafted from packing peanuts, of course.
Get creative with your labels! Instead of just “kitchen,” try “Where the Magic Happens” or “Home of the Tasty Delights.” It’ll make unpacking a lot more fun and give your movers a chuckle or two.
Wrap them in bubble wrap and call it their “security blanket.” Just imagine they’re on a royal journey, and you’re their trusty guardian ensuring they arrive in style, complete with an occasional pop for good luck.
Unpacking can be a race! Set a timer and see how much you can get done before it goes off. For extra fun, make it a family relay race where each person tackles a different room, and then celebrate with a dance party once you’re done.
Imagine you’re in an epic heist movie—strategize your moves, recruit a team of strong allies (friends or movers), and make use of all the gadgets (dollies and straps) in your “toolkit” to maneuver your treasure safely through the labyrinth of doorways and hallways.
Unpack the essentials first—your favorite blanket, the coffee maker, and anything that makes you feel cozy. It’s like setting up a mini-vacation in your new home before you dive into the daily grind.
Channel your inner action hero and tackle it with confidence. Whether it’s a broken item or a minor hiccup, handle it with flair and remember, every great adventure has a few plot twists. Just laugh it off and keep moving forward.
Think of it like planning a party—budget for the essentials and sprinkle in some fun extras if you can. Create a “Moving Budget Bingo” where you mark off items as you handle them, and reward yourself with a small treat once you hit a bingo!
We suggest emptying out the contents of drawers into moving boxes to reduce the stress on the piece of furniture which is being moved. It is also harder to move a dresser full of clothes than empty; therefore it may increase the amount of time it takes to move the piece.
No, unfortunately for legal & liability reasons we do not allow customers to ride in the moving truck. We arrange a taxi or chauffeur for you, at an added cost.
For local moves payment is due at the completion of the move, or in some cases before the unload if the move is to go past business hours, or if the customer does not have a credit card on file. For long distance moves, payment is always due prior to the unload.
We accept Visa, Mastercard, Amex, American Express, Email Money Transfer, Bank Draft, Money Order. There is a processing charge of 4% on credit cards.
We absolutely do! All our trucks are wrapped in our company branding. During the busy season we do sometimes have to rent trucks although the rentals are still equipped with all the necessary moving equipment.
